The PokerNews brand continues its rapid expansion into the live poker scene with an exciting new chapter this summer: the inaugural PokerNews Cup at GOLIATH, the largest poker festival in Europe.
Fresh off the back of a successful outing at the Malta Poker Festival in April, PokerNews is now teaming up with Grosvenor Poker to bring its signature flair to one of the most iconic stops on the UK poker calendar. The beloved GOLIATH Cup will now bear the PokerNews name, marking a significant milestone for the world’s leading poker media outlet.
A Bigger and Better GOLIATH Cup—Now the PokerNews Cup
Set to run August 2–3 inside Grosvenor Casino Coventry, the £550 PokerNews Cup promises the same deepstack structure that has long been a favorite among festival-goers. Players will start with a 50,000 chip stack and play 30-minute levels, giving them plenty of room to manoeuvre.
Unlimited reentries are available throughout Day 1, and late registration stays open until the start of Day 2, meaning players will have multiple shots at glory.
This two-day event is expected to attract a massive field, drawing not only from GOLIATH’s already loyal player base but also fans of the PokerNews brand.

What Happened Last Year?
To say the last edition of the GOLIATH Cup was a smash hit would be an understatement.
Wales' Rhys Jones was the 2024 GOLIATH Cup champion, beating a huge 792-entry field to take home £76,990 ($98,286). Jones overcame British tournament shark Kuljinder Sidhu in heads-up play to claim the trophy and seize the lion's share of the £380,160 ($485,319) prize pool.
The top 101 players made the money, with the min-cash paying out £1,050 ($1,340)—a solid return for those who navigated their way through the minefield of competitors.
