Race to the Money Begins on Day 2 of the EPT Monte-Carlo Main Event


The excitement and anticipation of the opening days are over, and now players can firmly set their sights on making the money when Day 2 of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Monte-Carlo Main Event begins at noon local time.
A total of 1,129 players packed the Sporting Monte-Carlo over the two starting flights, with 382 surviving to make it to Day 2. Cesar Garcia takes the chip lead into the day with 323,000, followed by Sebastian Gaehl (288,000), David Docherty (279,500), Christian Alilovic (260,500), and Laurent Cessy (250,000).

Last year’s runner-up Boris Angelov (210,000) and Adi Rajkovic (204,500) are also big stacks, as are Masato Yokosawa (191,500), Noah Boeken (186,500), and 2010 champion Nicolas Chouity (168,500). Further down the leaderboard are EPT champion Sebastian Malec (142,500), Niclas “Flushi” Thumm (135,500), 2013 champion Steve O’Dwyer (114,000), Martin Zamani (110,000), defending champion Derk van Luijk (108,500), and Juan Pardo (100,000).
Felix Schneiders (88,000), 2014 champion Antonio Buonanno (88,000), Jason Wheeler (80,000), Maria Konnikova (79,000), Chris Brewer (77,500), Patrik Antonius (63,500), and 2019 champion Manig Loeser (53,500) are also returning for Day 2. Short stacks include Dimitar Danchev (50,000), David Peters (25,000), and EPT Cyprus champion Oliver Weis (24,000).
Late registration remains open until the start of the day, with 79 entries needed to match last year’s record-setting field of 1,208. The action picks up on Level 11 with blinds of 1,000/1,500 and a 1,500 big blind ante. Levels will increase to 90 minutes long. There is a break after every level and a 75-minute dinner break at the end of Level 14 around 7 p.m. Play is scheduled to last five levels today.
